Gary Mullins is an accomplished and passionate musician with over 18 years of professional teaching and performing experience. Known for his ability to inspire students and audiences alike, Gary has built a reputation as one of South Wales’s most respected music educators and performers. A highly sought-after organist, pianist, and Musical Director, his work spans churches, concert halls, and classrooms, with a special talent for nurturing musicians of all ages and abilities.

 

Gary studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under acclaimed concert pianist Fazliddin Husanov, earning a Diploma in Music Performance (DipABRSM). He was a recipient of the prestigious Henry, Edith, and Constance Haddon Memorial Prize for three consecutive terms, awarded for the highest examination results in South Wales. He also received a scholarship offer to the Royal Academy of Music, which he later transferred to RWCMD.

Among his current pursuits, Gary is preparing for the Royal College of Organists (CRCO) diploma and rehearsing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor for a full orchestral performance in July 2025. He has previously performed Mozart’s Piano Concertos No. 21 and No. 23 to critical acclaim.

Gary currently serves as Musical Director, Organist, and Choirmaster at St Margaret’s Church, Cardiff - a role he took on in 2013 following ten years as the church’s principal organist. His leadership has seen the church choir flourish, most notably in performances such as Fauré’s Requiem during the 2023 Music and Flower Festival. He also contributes regularly to the musical life of St Edward’s and St German’s Churches as an assistant and guest organist.

Beyond the studio and the church, Gary brings his energy and expertise to the classroom. He currently teaches at St Teilo’s High School in Cardiff, where he leads the school choir and helps shape the next generation of musicians. His teaching career also includes time at St Paul’s and Coryton Primary Schools, where he introduced young learners to foundational musical skills.
